Foundation Stage teachers complete an Early Years Foundation Stage Profile for every child at the end of the Reception year. This covers all of the six areas of learning covered in Foundation Stage and is passed to the Key Stage 1 teachers when the children start in Year 1. Records are also passed on which cover the child’s progress in reading, writing and maths. At Key Stage 1 each child’s progress in Basic Skills is monitored by tracking their attainment through school. A continuous assessment is made by the class teacher of each child in her class and any problems are discussed with parents, the Special Needs coordinator or the Head teacher.
We have agreed that Ludlow Junior School uses the same format for keeping records within the National Curriculum subjects. At the end of each school year parents will receive a written report on the child’s progress in all subjects. Children normally transfer to Ludlow Junior School after Year 2.
